"Sarah in Leeds bought a kettle." Shown from orders that actually happened, and nothing else.
Three rules, and they are the reason to choose this over the alternatives.
Every notification is a real order. There is no fake mode. No "generate plausible notifications", no list of invented names, no setting that turns one on — not behind a filter either. A test asserts the plugin has no path from anything but WooCommerce's own order query to a notification. A shop showing purchases that did not happen is making claims about its trade that are not true, and in most of the world that has a name.
A notification is a first name and a town. Never a surname — only the first word of whatever was typed into the box, because people put their whole name in a "first name" field every day. Never an email, an order number, a street or a total. The redaction happens once, when the feed is built, so there is no path in the plugin by which anything else could reach a browser — and the settings screen shows you exactly what would be sent, row by row, so you do not have to take that on trust.
It never queries orders on a page view. Social proof goes on the busiest pages a shop has. The feed is built on a schedule into one option and handed to the page as data — no REST route, no admin-ajax action, nothing anybody can call to enumerate your orders, and nothing that stops a page being cached.
Also
* Nothing at all on the cart and the checkout — somebody who is paying does not need persuading * Nothing older than the window you set: a "recent purchase" from three months ago is a lie a quiet shop tells without meaning to * "14 sold in the last 7 days" on product pages, with a floor — because "1 sold in the last week" is a shop telling its visitors nobody buys this, and refunded lines are not counted * Products and categories you never show * Closed once is closed for that page

Does everything I bought it for. Would like a little more. Worth considering if you’re looking at Marketing & Growth. Not perfect, but good.

Chuffed with it. Social Proof has never surprised me, and I mean that as praise. Very good indeed.

Justo lo que necesitaba en mi tienda. Social Proof no necesita que nadie lo vigile. Volvería a comprar la licencia.

Everything essential is there. The Social Proof settings took me longer to work out than I expected. Sound enough.

Mejor que el que sustituyó. Social Proof cumple con lo que esperaba. Nada de lo que quejarse, la verdad.
