WooCommerce's built-in search asks the database to scan post content for a substring on every query. It gets slower as the catalog grows, it cannot rank results, and it cannot find a product by its SKU, its brand or its variation options.
This plugin replaces it with a real search index.
How it works
Every product is broken into words once, at index time, and stored as a set of weighted entries: a word in the product's name identifies it far more strongly than the same word buried in a description. A search is then a lookup on that index and a sum — its cost scales with how many products contain the words typed, not with how large the catalog is.
Indexing never happens in a shopper's request. Product changes are queued and drained by a background worker in small batches under a lock, so a bulk price import or a stock sync cannot slow the storefront down.
What you get
- Relevance-ranked search across names, SKUs, descriptions, categories, tags, brands, attributes and variation options.
- Typo tolerance — a misspelled word is corrected to the closest word your products actually contain, and the page says so.
- Instant search — matching products appear under the search field while the shopper types.
- AJAX filters for category, tag, brand, attribute, price, rating, on-sale and in-stock, plus an active-filter summary and a product grid.
- Blocks and shortcodes for every one of them — or nothing to place at all: the search field and filters appear on your shop and category pages on their own.
- Search reports showing what shoppers look for and — more usefully — what they searched for and did not find, exportable as CSV.
Built for busy stores
- Filter links are real URLs, so every filtered view is an ordinary GET request a page cache or CDN can serve.
- Filtering fetches the same URL the link points at and swaps the results in — there is one rendering path, not a separate AJAX one that can drift.
- Price, rating, sale and stock filters are answered from WooCommerce's product lookup table through a single join, not through meta queries.
- Facet counts are cached and bounded: above a threshold the filters render without numbers rather than putting the database under load.
- Instant search is a cacheable
GETendpoint with no visitor-specific content.
Works without JavaScript
Every filter is a link and the search field is a form. Turning JavaScript off costs a page reload; nothing stops working.
Nothing to set up
Activate it and the shop page has a search field and filters. They render through WooCommerce's own template hook, so they land inside your theme's layout rather than being injected into the page, and a filter with nothing to show hides itself instead of leaving an empty box.
The moment you place a block or a shortcode on a page, the automatic panel steps aside for that page — your layout wins, and you never end up with two search boxes. Both halves can also be turned off in the settings.
Configuration
Almost none, by design. There are two choices about what appears on the shop page, five about what gets searched, one about whether searches are recorded, and one about whether deleting the plugin deletes its data. Everything else — relevance weights, batch sizes, result limits, cache lifetimes — has a default that suits nearly every store and a filter beside it for the ones it does not. The settings screen lists them.
Every license includes
- One year of updates and priority support, delivered straight to your WordPress dashboard.
- Use on 1, 5 or 25 sites depending on your license — local, staging and development sites are always free.
- 30-day money-back guarantee — full refund, no questions asked.
- Keeps working after expiry — if you choose not to renew, the plugin keeps running exactly as installed; it simply stops receiving updates and support until you do.

Emailed on a Sunday, heard back Monday morning. Fair enough. Product Search did exactly what the demo suggested it would. Nothing more I could ask of it.

No noticeable hit on page speed, which was my worry. Very pleased with it.

No complaints that are worth writing down, really. Been running Product Search a few weeks now with no trouble. Would recommend with the small caveat above.

Not quite five stars, but close. Product Search has been on the shop about a month. Yes, on balance.

Muy buen trabajo. Product Search no da señales de vida y aun así hace su trabajo. Excelente trabajo.
