Most stores outgrow flat rate shipping in their first busy month. What they need next is not a bigger number — it is a way to say what they actually charge: £4.95 under two kilos, free over £75, nothing at all to the islands, and never by courier for the pallets.
Gatemi Shipping puts that on one screen. Add "Shipping rules" to any WooCommerce shipping zone and build a table of rules. Each rule says when it applies and what it charges. The first rule that matches wins, unless you tell it to add its cost and keep going.
Rules that read like sentences
Every rule is built from the same conditions, whether you are pricing a delivery or taking an option away:
- Where it is going — country, state or county, postcode (with wildcards and ranges), city.
- What the cart is worth — subtotal before discounts, total after discounts, measured with or without tax.
- What is in it — weight, volume, number of items, number of lines, specific products, categories, tags, SKUs, shipping classes.
- Who is buying — customer role, signed in or not, coupons used.
- How they are paying — for restrictions, the chosen payment method and the chosen shipping method.
Conditions nest. "Over 10 kg and (outside the mainland or contains a hazardous class)" is one rule, not five.
Costs that stack
A rule can charge a flat amount, an amount per item, an amount per unit of weight, and a percentage of the goods — all at once, with an optional minimum and maximum on that rule. The method adds a handling fee, a per-order fee, and limits of its own.
Choose how the table is applied: once for the whole delivery, or per item, per line, or per shipping class, adding the results up.
When you cannot ship at all
A rule can say so, and say why. The shopper reads your reason instead of "there are no shipping options available" — in the classic checkout and in the block checkout alike.
Restrictions
Hide a shipping method, or allow only certain ones, when your conditions match. The same for payment methods: no cash on delivery over £500, no express for oversized goods.
Import and export
A rate table exports to CSV and imports back, rules included. Build forty weight bands in a spreadsheet, or move a table from staging to live.
Every license includes
- One year of updates and priority support, delivered straight to your WordPress dashboard.
- Use on 1, 5 or 25 sites depending on your license — local, staging and development sites are always free.
- 30-day money-back guarantee — full refund, no questions asked.
- Keeps working after expiry — if you choose not to renew, the plugin keeps running exactly as installed; it simply stops receiving updates and support until you do.
Requires WordPress 6.4+ · PHP 7.4+ · tested up to WordPress 7.0. Works with the classic and block checkout alike.

Rolled it out across the whole group in an afternoon.

Finally sorted out something I’d given up on. Single Site was the right option for my setup.

Etwas Einlesen war nötig, aber es funktioniert.

Still doing exactly what it did the week I bought it. Shipping is quietly doing the thing in the background right now. Can’t see myself switching.

No complaints, just not quite a five. Running Shipping quietly on one store at the moment. Went with Single Site and it’s been adequate.
